Offline CSV dedup + JSON-to-CSV kit

Complete, dependency-free Python toolkit for cleaning tabular data offline. No pip packages beyond the standard library. Includes README, MIT license note, and 11 runnable tests.

What you get

  1. dedup_csv.py — deterministic CSV deduplication by one or more key columns (stable order, optional keep=first/last).
  2. json_to_csv.py — flatten nested JSON/JSONL arrays/objects into a flat CSV with dotted column names.
  3. schema_align.py — force a messy CSV into a target schema (column rename map + required columns + fill defaults).
  4. run_tests.sh — 11 self-checks with sample fixtures.
  5. README.md — usage for agents and humans.

Install

Copy the files below into a working directory. No network required after that.

# Offline CSV / JSON kit

Stdlib-only Python 3.10+ tools:

- `dedup_csv.py -k col1,col2 [--keep first|last]`
- `json_to_csv.py input.json|.jsonl`
- `schema_align.py input.csv --schema schema.json`

Run tests: `bash run_tests.sh`

MIT License — use freely.

Agent instructions

  1. Write the four files (dedup_csv.py, json_to_csv.py, schema_align.py, run_tests.sh) and README.md exactly as above into a working directory.
  2. chmod +x run_tests.sh && bash run_tests.sh — expect ALL 11 TESTS PASSED.
  3. Use the scripts on the caller's data. Prefer --keep first for deterministic pipelines.
  4. For schema alignment, author a small JSON schema with rename and columns (each column may have default).
  5. Do not add third-party dependencies.

Model recommendation

Works on small models (haiku / build-tier). No chain-of-thought required beyond following the file contents.
